Fertilizing

To bring a beautiful, healthy lawn to fruition, you need to craft a plan and execute it accordingly! An essential part of that process is selecting the right lawn fertilizer for the job.

Unfertilized lawns rely on getting their nutrients through the area’s soil, which could be problematic for areas undergoing heavy construction or around newly built properties. Although your soil supplies grass with some of the nutrients it needs to thrive, there’s not enough to last through an entire, successful growing season.

Lawn fertilizers replace lost nutrients in the soil to keep your lawn healthy, green, and lush. It promotes new leaf and root growth thanks to a cycle of nutrients like phosphorus, potassium, and nitrogen. This nutrient-rich substance also encourages a healthy ecosystem in your lawn, consisting of helpful bugs and other garden dwellers.

Contributing Nutrients in Fertilizers

Check out the three primary nutrients that contribute to your grass and turf’s health:

  • Nitrogen (N) – Found in most commercial fertilizers, nitrogen is an essential component the gives plants their beautiful, natural green look. It supplies food to the grass and enhances growth.
  • Phosphorus (P) – Enhancing root growth and flowering, phosphorus works to encourage plant roots to grow more vital and more profound.
  • Potassium (K) – Important for flowering and fruiting, potassium supports protein synthesis and supports the growth process.

Types Of Fertilizers

Straight Fertilizer

Straight fertilizers only contribute a single nutrient to the grass. It’s a straightforward and affordable option for fertilization. However, it won’t necessarily give you the luscious, green yard you’re after unless you mix it with other types of fertilizers for a mixed or compound solution! Nonetheless, it’s a great starting point for cost-effective fertilization over a large area. Urea is a very common straight fertilizer that provides robust and adequate amounts of nitrogen at the lowest cost!

Sprayable Foliar

Foliar spray fertilization can happen on both small and large scales. It’s a time-saving option that, unlike granular fertilizer, allows plants to absorb nutrients through their leaves instead of through the soil. Sprayable fertilization is a fast-acting, quick-absorbing solution for particular crops, plants, and foliage.

Standard-Organic Fertilizer

Organic lawn fertilizers do not contain any pesticides or synthetic materials within their composition. Organic fertilizers feed the soil with microbial life that, in return, feeds the plant and promotes lawn growth. It’s an effective long-term solution to harmful synthetics that encourages overall lawn health.

Starter Fertilizer

A small but mighty range of starter fertilizers works for cold, wet soils most commonly found during the spring and fall seasons. It’s an effective product heavy in nitrogen and phosphorus to enhance emerging seedlings to quickly and adequately develop. Starter fertilizer kick jumps plant growth by placing readily available nutrients where they’re accessible by root systems.

Our Promise

Definition of Quality: A Degree of Excellence!

What that means for you, we deliver the highest quality of service for your lawn every season!

With thorough consideration of soil types, types of grass, and fertilizer varieties, you can grow a beautiful, healthy lawn. Our team of lawn care experts is ready to assist you in all of your landscaping and turf project efforts with lawn fertilizer recommendations and spring, summer, and fall fertilizing tips.

We spoon-feed your lawn to maintain turf health and color each visit.*

We use quality fertilizers with controlled-release nitrogen for continuous feeding and micronutrients for a deeper color.

Currently, we are applying two crabgrass applications to make sure we cover every inch of your lawn.

We understand shade lawns require less nitrogen in the summer and adjust our rates accordingly. If an area of your lawn is not responding to our program, we may recommend a soil analysis and then corrections for the deficiencies.

(*Dependent on environmental conditions.)

We spot spray weeds each visit. Currently, we are using the newest herbicide technology- a water-based herbicide. Even problem weeds like Ground Ivy (Creeping Charlie), typically controlled in the fall, will succumb to multiple spot sprays. (Same with clover.)

Be patient. It usually takes ten to fourteen days to control all broadleaf weeds completely.*

*Best weed control is obtained when the herbicides are left on the plants for 24 hours “no irrigation,” and plants are not mowed for 48 hours.

Some weeds like “Goosegrass” require a different herbicide. If you wish, we can treat this for a nominal fee.
